So, he bit me!

Mylo starting biting 2 days ago. He was in the tub and I had my arms dangling over the side. Before I could withdraw my appendages, He swooped in and took 2 nibbles. I told him, "No biting, it hurts mommy" and he smiled and took two more nibbles. He couldn't get enough of the taste of my flesh with his piercing chompers. So, The biting phase has commenced. Be warned if you have contact and yes he has had his rabies.....well ok, maybe not!

Dinosaurs Don't Go in the Dishwasher, Frying Pans Don't Go in the Dryer.

I love my toddler. Oh, yes! He's a toddler. He had the dishwasher full of dirty dinosaurs and the dryer full of the dishes that were previously in the dishwasher all while I was cooking dinner at the stove. Mylo finds his way to the cookie jar and demands cookies for both hands and then walks through the house chewing off legs and arms.
At 7:30pm, he looked at me and pointed upstairs and said "Ba", which means bath in my translation. I know I have a special education degree but I don't know anything about gifted. If I wrote his IEP today, the goal would be, "By April 2010, given plenty of cookies and noodles, Mylo will eat without throwing his food to the floor on 4 out of 5 attempts with 99% accuracy on mommy-made tests."
When he falls down, he can get up using his hands on the floor instead of crawling to a wall or looking for close by flesh to sink his talons into and hoist himself up with. Personally, I don't know how one goes through the day without 2 Pacies, Mylo sleeps with two and one in his mouth. He rotates through them at night, different flavs, what?
I am still struggling with how to respond to his fits. Like this afternoon, it was raining so we walked quickly from the car to the porch. We walked past the dump truck without playing with it and Mylo started screaming, pushing me and kicking.I've got a 24lb 5 oz kid on my right, school bag and purse on my right and car keys and phone in my hands. Strategically, I got inside and set him on the floor, his body went limp and slinki-like. I explained to my 12 month old that it was raining and we weren't going to play outside today and he could play with his inside dump truck. He continues to scream and the tears are just rolling. I push the inside dump truck to his side, he smiles, stops crying, gets up and pushes the dump truck down the hallway collecting any loose articles anyone left behind unsuspectingly. I am trying. I don't want him to be irrational and not handle not getting his way but he's one, I know he understands more than I think he does, but his grasp on logical and rational thought, the English language and communication is not fully developed. So, rationalizing with a 1 yr 14 day old is quite the feat.

First Scraped Knee!

Mylo and I played with his dump truck in the beautiful sunshine. He fell over his dump truck and got his first scraped knee. He also ate his first fist full of dirt. It was quite a productive day.

Mylo informed me that he was done with his bath and ready for his bottle. It was so weird. He stood up in the bath tub, pointed to the toy basket, handed me all the toys out of the tub. I got his towel ready then he reached for me. I wrapped him up and he pointed to the hair dryer (yes, I blow dry my son's hair and he loves it). Then I put him to bed. But it was like he knew. He was telling me what to do next. Getting him to sleep didn't go so easy. He falls asleep as a I sing, "Son of God or Prince of Peace" and as soon as I lay him in bed, the eyes open and he squirms and cries for 10 minutes. He has done that for the past 3 nights. He doesn't have an ear infection, I thought of that. He is starting to cry while his eyes are closed, bad dreams? Already? I am running a 5K on Saturday, Mylo is strolling, wish us luck. Any advice for getting a 1 year old to sleep, let me know! BTW Mylo weighs 24 lbs 5oz and is 31 3/4in long.

Mylo's Easter Extravaganza

Mylo hunted eggs and sticks. He has a wonderful Easter. He spent the morning at church with his mommy and nana. He had lunch at Aunt Robins where Quinten hid eggs with rocks in them. Mylo of course took the rocks out and tried to put them back in. He had dinner at Nana's and found yet again more eggs this time wit trucks in them. Mylo has carrot on wheels, fire hat, and penguin Easter baskets filled with yogurt puffs, play clothes, books, CatNtheHat, and puffs. He made out like a rabbit. He tried fish and broccoli at his Grandma Vickies' this weekend for the first time. He is eating table scraps more and less baby food. This week we are moving in with my mom permanently or until beach front views becomes available. I am on a brief spring break so I will get to spend more time with Mylo but it will make it harder to go back to work on Monday. Happy Easter!

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY MYLO!!!

We had a beautiful, warm Spring day to celebrate Mylo's 1st Birthday. Mylo had many guests to "Ba" at and presents to open. He had his first piece of cake. The cake was a "Sid the Science Kid" theme. It is beautiful. Chris Ware made the cake. Thanks so much!It's your favorite show about a kid in pre-K that discovers his world through science experiments. Check it out on pbskids.org. Mylo got some amazing presents: summer clothes, wvu sippy cup, wvu and soccer jersey outfits, toothbrushes, dump trucks, savings bonds, $, mickey mouse cell phone, 1st pound puppy (your daddy chewed on the nose of his pound puppy and he slept with it until college....shhhh)Talking kitchen, broom, teddy bear, books...and so much more. You had many of your loved ones at your celebration: Mom Mom, Nana, Uncle Morgen and Aunt Brandy, Grandma Vickie and Great-Grandma Dolly, Uncle Evan and Aunt Kat( thanks for taking such great pics), Anita, Deborah, Jess Cochran, Your Godparents Nick and Donna, Aunties Alexis, Brittany, Shannon and Abby and Will. If I left anyone off, I apologize. You will the rest of your Aunties and Unclies at Easter. Everyone signed a picture frame giving you birthday wishes with your Easter picture with the live bunnies. "Ba" Means what!

I feel so enlightened. Everything Mylo says is Ba, Ba and points. "Ba" means what. I want to know what that is so tell it to me. Mylo is going to have to realize that adults aren't as smart as him.
